Over the course of Kathryn’s life, the moments that have stood still, times that have imprinted on her soul, are those of travel, travel that changed her inner landscape forever.
Some distinguishing moments have been:
- Making the slow decent on the windi mountains of Switzerland into the charming and backlit town of ……, and taking in the view of the snow-topped village.
- Tasting the lychee fruit for the first time after a local Jamaican man handed it over.
- Watching two young Cambodian children reach into a burning pile of trash looking for any morsel of food.
- Sleeping in an open-aired temple with over 100 people, and sitting up in the middle of the night to see the giant golden Buddha reflecting the light hundreds of candles
- Walking from village to village in the countryside of Thailand with a group of monks on a 8 day Dharma walk.
- Motorbiking across the small island off of the Southern tip of Vietnam
These moments in time started to define Kathryn’s relationship to the world. Expanding her own horizons and tearing down her own constructs of judgement, she began to realize that stepping into a new culture buzzing with colors, smells, people, and stunning sights can her purpose - one of seeing the beauty in the smallest fractions of life that light up her cellular matrix. These experiences brought on new and different perspectives, reaching depths and corners of her feeling that had not been felt before.
They were life-affirming while simultaneously earth shattering. They gave purpose when the rest life could feel so empty at times. These travel experiences forced Kathryn to reflect on her own constructs of life, pursuing the limits in her mind and beliefs.
For this, her desires and pursuits changed course early on in life. Wanting to discover another exotic fruit or learn about the world’s geographic landscapes were desired through the pursuit of real-life experiences rather than through the travel channel, magazines, or other people’s stories.
Investing in herself and giving time to travel the world while opening herself to the different cultures, traditional heritages, religions, cuisines and landscapes become her compass in life. It has deepened her understanding of the world, which allowed her to understand her own inner world better.
She is dedicated in her vision of helping others break down barriers in their own limitations and judgements, and to create as much inner and outer peace that’s possible.
"The practice of soulful travel is to discover the overlapping point between history and everyday life, the way to find the essence of every place, everyday: in the markets, small chapels, out-of-the-way parks, craft shops. Curiosity about the extraordinary in the ordinary moves the heart of the traveler intent on seeing behind the veil of tourism." - Phil Cousineau (The Art of Pilgrimage)
